A BRIEF HISTORY
This school was formerly the Taipei (Pronounced Tai-bay) Prefectural Second Middle School, established in 1922 and briefly called Taipei Second Middle School. It moved from the Bodhidharma temple to the present site in 1925, and was intended for the enrollment of Taiwanese students. In 1946, the following year of our victory over Japan in the Sino-Japanese war and restoration of Taiwan to the Republic of China, the school was renamed the Taiwan Provincial Taipei ChengGong High School in memory of Tseng Cheng-gong's exploitation of Taiwan and resistance to foreign invaders. By order of the government, the school began to have evening session in 1953, which stopped enrolling new students in 1981. The evening session terminated two years later along with the graduation of the students. In 1955, the school was ordered to disperse, and set up a branch school in Tao Yuan, which was later expanded in "the Joint Tao Yuan Branch School of the Five Provincial Taipei High School." It became independent and was renamed the Taiwan Provincial Wu-Ling High School in 1959. In the autumn of 1967, Taipei City came under the direct control of the Executive Yuan. This school was finally given the present name, Taipei Municipal ChengGong Senior High School.
	Pleasant Surroundings
This school is situated in the city center where government offices and important institutions abound. Covering a beautiful campus of 6,000 odd pings, or about 2 hectares, it comes complete with all the necessary facilities. To actively promote science education and introduce current scientific and technological information, the schoolis equipped specifically with a variety of experimental facilities so that the students may raise their interest in sceintific research and extend their scientific knowledge.
Teaching Administration We firmly believe that the final goal of education is the betterment of our society. Science education aims at helping students to build up the habit of quick observation, careful induction and persistence in experiments before reaching a conclusion. We emphasize cltural and social science education and help foster a constructive philosophy of life to serve people and dedicate themselves to the society. We guide graduates to higher education, and help students to make wise choices concerning their future studies.
Guidance and Counselling The guidance programs are set up by the guidance committee and carried out by the teachers and the counselors. In this school, there are one chief guidance and four guidance teachers. All of them are professional. The objectives of the guidance services are to improve the students' psychological health and to adjust them well in the learning and living environment so that they can identify their own value and develop their potentialities to the full.
Discipline Through guiding and assisting students,we can help solve their problems in human, rational,and even scientific ways,assisting them to properly develop their freedom of the will. We have various school clubs so as to develop their potentiality,and help raise their quality of life; we often hold some friendly matches and contests to apply their learning to recreational activities and promote their health both on mind and body. Therefore,students learn to keep intellectual,moral, physical,team work,and esthetic education in a well-balanced development.
Rate of Admission to Colleges or Universities The teaching staff of this school possesses good qualifications and the students body fine qualities. The graduates of all previous years took the Joint College Entrance Examination and ended up with brilliant results.They entered departments ranging from law to electric engineering and medicine. The rates of admission to the four category of departments of colleges and universities were above 96%. Every year dozens of graduates were recommended and finally admitted to colleges or universities.
Club Activities Club activities in this school are flourishing with distinctive features. In terms of natuere they can be separated into categories as of academics, skills and talents, physical training, recreation, leisure activities, and school teams. The clubs, currently 57 in all, often get brilliant results in various kinds of contests or competitions.
Student Organizations This school enjoys sound, autonomous students' organizations that function markedly well. The Class Union is in charge of pushing forward self-governing activities in school. The Students' Representatives' Union works to promote interschool exchanges. The Club Union assumes responsibility for performances and competitions outside school.
